Implementation of the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) at our school
Purpose: To inform parents about the overall IB MYP implementation at school, including progress, analysis, and next steps.
On April 23, 2025, a parents meeting was held to share information regarding the implementation of the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) at our school starting from September 2024.
During the meeting, the administration and teachers provided an overview of the MYP framework, its philosophy, and how it supports the development of students as lifelong learners. We highlighted the progress made since the beginning of the academic year, including the successful integration of MYP approaches to learning (ATL skills), interdisciplinary teaching practices, and the focus on inquiry-based learning.
An analysis of our first year of implementation was presented, emphasizing strengths such as growing teacher collaboration, positive student engagement, and the alignment of units and assessments with MYP requirements. Areas for continued growth were also discussed, including the need for ongoing professional development, deeper integration of global contexts, and refinement of assessment practices.
Parents were informed about upcoming plans to further strengthen the MYP implementation, including more parent workshops, student showcases, and internal review processes to ensure quality and consistency.
The meeting concluded with an open discussion, where parents asked questions and expressed their support for the MYP philosophy and its benefits for their children's education.
